Lynchburg City Schools offer unequaled advanced opportunities, college and career prep, competitive extra-curricular programs, and small class sizes. Lynchburg’s Schools of Innovation at T.C. Miller and Dearington elementary schools and P.L. Dunbar Middle School, offer a small-school setting with additional emphasis on science, performing arts, foreign languages, and other subjects. The LAUREL Regional Program meets the special education needs of public school students ages two through 21 in the Region.

The Amherst County Public Schools offer a challenging curriculum for all students starting with pre-school programs, through elementary, middle, and high school. Amherst County High School has had more students accepted into college over the past several years than ever before. Amherst County’s graduation rate is above the state average, and all schools are accredited in math.

Appomattox County Public Schools’ theme for the year is Striving for Excellence. The goal is to engage students through innovative instructional practices, a rigorous curriculum, and technology. The district’s on-time graduation rate is 96 percent, and the two of the Region’s “Teachers of the Year” have been from Appomattox.

Bedford County Public Schools offer educational services to more than 9,500 students enrolled in pre-school through adult classes. Alternative elementary, middle and high school programs and gifted programs are available. A new $29 million middle school will open in August of 2018 and accommodate 700 students.

Campbell County Schools serve students in PreK – 12. The school district has developed a dual-enrollment program with Central Virginia Community College, through which approximately 80 of its high school seniors take coursework in HVAC, welding, machinist, cyber security, firefighting and nursing programs. These programs are now available to students throughout the Region.
